After leaving NZX Weldon invested in the wine industry, buying vineyards on Felton Road, Bannockburn, and launching the Terra Sancta brand. Terra Sancta was named in the Top 100 Wineries of the World by Wines & Spirits Magazine in 2015.

In August 2014,Weldon was appointed as the Group Chief Executive Officer for MediaWorks New Zealand, managing the company's radio, television and digital businesses. While there he integrated the TV, radio and digital news platforms under a new, single news brand, Newshub and launched a new channel in conjunction with NBC, Bravo NZ, as well as a gossip brand, Scout, which folded less than a year after its launch. After the departure of a number of high-profile current affairs reporters and presenters Weldon resigned in May 2016, and has since invested in a number of private companies.
